The Sorry Giotto 3 LED Floor Lamp was created by Enzo Catellani for the Italian label Catellani & Smith.
Designed in 2008, the Sorry Giotto 3 LED Floor Lamp works both as a piece of sculpture and as a light fitting. Standing 220cm tall, the design features three rings with diameters of 40cm, 50cm and 60cm. Based on Giotto's circle, an iconic antidote from the world of Renaissance art, these three rings appear to balance on each other. The lamp's name "Sorry" is a humorous apology to Giotto, who was reputed to be able to draw the perfect circle freehand. The rings are made from hand-painted copper and sit on a stable base of iron measuring 35 x 20 cm.
Catellani & Smith, founded by Logan Smith and Enzo Catellani over 25 years ago, is known for its sculptural lighting. The unique pieces that blacksmith Castellani creates from metal have their roots in industrial design and are inspired by the raw materials. As Castellani works, his pieces take on their own organic life.
