London-based French artist Sonia Mimouni specialises in gilded glass, using the traditional technique of verre églomisé to design contemporary artistic mirrors and glass. For the Mad Atelier London design Week 2018, the artist had created a series of mirrors intended to reflect the fragmented nature of memory and to represent the different eras of the Lord Cecil pub in Lower Clapton, where Mad Atelier is residing now, through varying patterns and colours.
The "Victorian" series take inspiration of the flooring, tiles and wallpapers found in the building before the renovation. This is a unique and bespoke item.
Sonia is using precious gold, copper or brass leaves and paint to create outstanding and unique pieces that will last forever. The mirrors are covered at the back with black felt and can be hanged on the wall with adjustable mirror clips.
