From the Spring Art Exhibition at Mad Atelier:

Mada Vicassiau studied at the Ecole des
Beaux-Arts de Cergy-Paris. Now based in
East London, Vicassiau’s practice draws
from the self-referential style of modernist
abstraction and the associative qualities of
logotype, typography and design aesthetics.
Fluctuating between the rawness of the
canvas and the warm glow of gold leaf, the
abstract paintings straddle both the conformity
of rigid rhythms seen in geometric
paintings and the symbols represented.
This new series reflects their modernist
simplicity and a subtle investigation into the
effect of light on perception.

Acrylic and wax on plywood.
